Beatles - In My Life

There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends
I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more.

Number 9

My numerology number is #9.

Wild Horses of Newbury

This weekend I was trying to describe this video to a friend. How this footage will break your heart and warm it also. Tis an old video, but still poignant to me.

 Synopsis
When a road tries to destroy ancient forests, two black horses appear
 to stop the chainsaws.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYAqkHI4qq4

'The Wild Horses of Newbury' was shot by me, Mark Carroll, very early on a single morning in February 1996 at the building site of the Newbury Bypass. (UK) This controversial road was to cut through some beautiful, ancient English countryside and had met with massive and radical direct action protests, hence the number of security guards. The whole episode only lasted a few minutes.. nothing was staged. The security guards and police had circled two very old Oak trees and were preparing to chop them down , when two scruffy, seemingly wild horses appeared and began to interfere with the felling. One of the horses even confronted one of the police horses.....
It was a very magical moment.

 Inspiration
There was no inspiration for the film, apart from the moment itself. I
was at Newbury, filming the protests and the evictions on a Hi8
Camcorder. Very early one February morning, I found myself in a field
with over 500 security guards and police, they had surrounded a small
copse and a couple of huge, old oak trees and were preparing to chop
them down. They had successfully outwitted the protesters. In the
chaos accompanying the operation, some hedges and fences had been
destroyed and these two horses were roaming virtually free. As the
chainsaws started, they didn't run away as you'd expect, but towards
the felling.. I just grabbed the camcorder and started filming,
nothing was staged, the whole episode only lasted a few minutes, but
had quite a profound effect on everyone there. Even the police were
dumbfounded, especially by the 'confrontation' between the 'wild'
 horse and the police horse.

Solstice on the Land - 2014

Dance dammit!

Thankfulness

On the Solstice I stood before my Goddess.
On maps she is known as Home Rock.
In my heart I know her as my Mother.
For nearly 45 years she has sheltered me.
Protected me as one her recognizes
Her Titan power.
Standing guard in the south
Of this ancient meadow.
How old is she?
Thousands of years at least.
I'm not sure.
I know in my bones
That ancient peoples have worshiped before me.
For generations.

To the East is her consort.
My Father
Known as Fish Creek Rock.
He stands at the crossroads
Of Fish Creek and Night Creek.
Together they are massive Beings
Of protection of our home.
Protectors of this beautiful valley
That has raised me and my family.
For just this one generation.

Before us was the Hawkes family.
The homesteaders that built our ranch house
And outbuildings.
The Hawkes that still haunt our house
And sometimes startle me awake at night.
Especially Roy Hawkes.
I don't really like him.
On this Solstice of Midsummer.
I thanked my Mother and Father
For the single breath
That would be a 1,000 years
To them of ancient rock.
For blessing me with such grandeur.

I stand puny and humbled by their magnificence.
By my luck to have access to this place
To grow up a wild child
To still run wild and free as an adult.
To roam upon acres and acres of pristine wilderness.
With not a single other human for miles.

I can barely express.
I am trying to share.
I soak it up into my soul.
To bless my heart
So that when I split my soul open for others
It will spill out
As pure wild magick.

I wish I could bring each of you here.
Just to see the stars at night.
To see the flowers that sing for days
The deer that startle and snort at me.
The rabbits that stare back at me with huge eyes.

When I am away for even a day
My heart aches
Aches more than I have ever felt for a person.
Fills my soul with pure love.
This place defines me.
This land is my soul.

Summer Solstice

I will be heading up to my land alone tomorrow to celebrate the Summer Solstice. I will be holding space for bliss and renewal in my life. If I do not return, then I was spirited away by my Faery Man to live in the underworld. On some summer evenings you will see my spirit soaring in the clouds.

I dress as your Daughter when the Moon becomes round…I listen to you and I want some more. Some things change, something's stay the same.

Life is short

Full Moon - The Honey Full Moon

Honey Full Moon

I draw down the honey Full Moon
To rest on my heart
She heals me with her sweet gold light
Always my Goddess is here
Blending energies
Healing me
Remembering what I will taste
Whenever I open my heart
To taste sweetness again.
I brim with love
For myself and my life
My Path is perfect
My Oath to live this life
Is pure magic.

Finding my Tribe by looking into their Eyes

I think that this weekend was also about me extending my connections with my tribe. Synchronisity. Had to spend a bunch if time with a person I now realize, I don't like very much, in order to go ride the Georgetown train and meet Barb & Eric.
The Train folks were having a small event in which they had people doing re-enactments and dressed in wonderful costumes. At one point, I looked up to watch a man approaching me and seriously thought it was my friend Chase. Actually, my heart skipped a few beats as I held my breath thinking if this was even possible. Am I on candid camera? Some would say a doppelgänger.

No, it was not my friend, but someone who looks very similar. Especially in costume. Mostly in the eyes. I had seen this similar thing with my teacher RJ Stewart just weeks before. At one point I looked over at RJ and saw my friend Chase's eyes.  I believe it to be the Scottish of my ancestors. The eyes of my tribe. The fine straight nose and those twinkling eyes.

Someone had shared a quote with me recently about how our Spiritual tribes are all coming together again. I seem to be recognizing my Kin and connecting with them again. Do you see a type of family resemblance? Chase & Eric could literally be brothers in appearance. How weird is that? RJ could be their father or uncle. Maybe these photos don't show the resemblance that I detect but it really is apparent in person. There is a 'knowing' or Shine in their eyes.

Perhaps I need to get myself to Scotland and meet more of my tribe. These are all really cool guys!

Animal Oracle - Rabbit

Rabbit/Hare's Wisdom Includes:
  • Guile
  • Paradox and contradiction
  • Living by one’s own wits
  • Receiving hidden teachings and intuitive messages
  • Quick-thinking
  • Humility
  • Moving through fear
  • Strengthening intuition
Saturday night in Denver I spotted 3 different rabbits around the art museum. I was working on boundaries all weekend and definitely needed quick wits and strength to not cave to another persons will. (especially after they were drinking a lot).
I thank my Chinese Zodiac brethren for giving me all these tools to move humbly through a tough situation and out the other side, have both parties being satisfied with the adventures and places we went to.
Oh! Rabbit - please help me to never put myself in a situation like this again. It all worked out fine, but I am bruised, exhausted and my ego was not thrilled by this attention. Thank the Goddess I have an appointment with Grace on Tuesday!!

Today's critter is - Dragonfly

Damselfly/Dragonfly's Wisdom Includes:
  • Mastery of life on the wing
  • Power of flight
  • Power to escape a blow
  • Understanding dreams
  • Power of light
  • Breaking down illusions
  • Seeing the truth in situations
  • Swiftness
  • Change
  • Connection to Dragon
After the weekend I just had - this is excellent. I moved through a complex weekend of maneuvering, spent with a friend, who upon arriving for a visit - pestered me all weekend for more than friendship. I did not cave, I established boundaries over and over. Once I dropped him off at the airport - I took flight and zoomed home. The lesson for me here is to establish boundaries BEFORE I spend time with someone. Hey, I am still processing my experience from this Spring and I am not prepared to move into something else. I know this because whenever I even consider it, I end up all ungrounded and either hurting myself physically or getting this new weird inner ear thing. I will know when I am ready, and it just isn't going to be this summer. ( I don't think?) My inner knowing tells me that this process may take 1-2 years to find a partner. In the mean time, I am seldom interested in anything casual. That just seems to muddy up my energy or just gets me all stirred up and complicated. For today I will pay attention to the lessons of Dragonfly.

Spiral

Mercury Retrograde

This is going to be intense. See you in July if I don't implode.

Lone Wolf - beautiful

Tasting Stillness

"Tasting Stillness and knowing it is medicine". Joan Halifax.

I live, love adore this quote and concept. I hope to move into a quieter lifestyle the rest of the summer. Moving so quickly through so much this Spring has torn me down and now slammed me into the cement. I believe that Stillness will help me survive this place on my path. Perhaps not physical stillness as I have to keep hiking and dancing, but I need to practice the tools I have been taught to nurture my inner stillness. Only then can I be grounded, heal and be receptive to the next steps I need to take on this amazing life journey.

Oracles, Portents & Totems oh my!

Today I started a log on my phone to track my daily encounters with oracles I encounter. I will look them up on the animal shamans website and then think about the lessons they each bring. I will post that web link later. Sometimes I just get out the animal Tarot deck book and look them up that way. Today was certainly an atypical day. Other personal things happened today that gave me pause for thought. I think I am already moving into the Mercury Retrigrade period. It's going to be intense. Anyway…here is my Oracle entry for today. I may post some notes after I look these up.
6/5/14. Turtle. Rattlesnake. Rabbit. Cricket. Frog. Waxwing Bird. Magpie. Deer. Crescent Moon- waxing. Cats.
